Timea Korda-Kovats

Timea has worked on a variety of projects including post-earthquake residential renovations, county-wide development plans, residential buildings in protected areas and smaller residential projects including renovations and alterations. She also worked for the Spanish, French and British branches of Architects Without Borders, building mud-brick bath houses in Senegal, renovating a medieval castle in France, and organising Resilience by Design courses in the UK.

Specialisms

Timea develops her strong interest in vernacular architecture and vernacular techniques applied in the 21st century by working as a research assistant at Oxford Brookes University where she works on the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Vernacular Architecture of the World. She is also interested in architectural design for resilience. Working with a small group of researchers they recently won a seed funding to research and develop an Edible Street concept design and a 1:1 mock up in Oxford. In her spare time, Timea enjoys a non-architectural application of clay by doing pottery with her children and on her pottery wheel.
