How long will it take?

This will depend on your project size and complexity but some guidelines are below. However please bear in mind that if you are contacting us in March, we will not be able to achieve a build start in the summer of the same year. This is because good design takes time and also because good builders are already booked up several months in advance. Additionally planning applications takes 8 weeks for a decision to be reached once they are submitted. Lastly, depending on current workload, we may not be able to start your project straight away.

New-build house (4 bedroom) or equivalent sized barn conversion approximate timescales

Survey – 6 weeks

Feasibility/design options – 6 months minimum

Planning Application – the application will sit in the planning department for 8 weeks before a decision is made. If a pre-application is required (because we need to test ideas with the council or because the project is not straightforward) then you would need to add another 3 months to this process.

Building Control Application – 3 months

Construction information – 3 months

Building on site – 1-2 years
